Recreating Cincinnati in SimCity4

So first a little background. I have played SimCity since the beginning. My first memories of playing SimCity were playing the original game on my Uncle Dave’s computer while I was staying there while my parents were out of town.

I got SimCity 4 (and soon after the expansion pack Rush Hour) back when they came out in 2003. One of the things I’ve always been interested in was recreating real world places and areas.

So recently (2010), I was getting back into SimCity. I couldn’t find my actual SimCity disc (just Rush Hour which wouldn’t install without the base game), so I bought a used copy of it off of Ebay for $10 and started playing.

Which led me back into trying some real world recreations. It’s a weird obsession I have – when I drive around town, I look at different signs or buildings or road networks and think “How would this look inside SimCity?” (I know, I know, I said I was weird!). I looked at the NYC City Journal, where a guy is trying to recreate New York City – some amazing stuff.

So follow along with me (if you dare) as I try to recreate the city of Cincinnati inside SimCity 4. Perhaps I’ll finish, or perhaps I’ll never finish, or perhaps I’ll give it up within a week. I’ve already had quite the adventures trying to even come up with the map itself but THAT, my friends, is for another day…
